COVID-19: Olowu Flag-off Palliative Measures, Commends Govt’s efforts, Urges them to do More

Olowu of Kuta, HRH Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun iii, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential Task Force for being pro-active to curtail the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus.

Olowu in a Press Conference held during the flagoff of the “Olori Fatima Adeola makama Oyelude 2nd Community Empowerment Initiatives. The traditional ruler said the effort of the federal government has paid off as the lockdown has really worked and now that it’s being eased. He urged caution and critical appraisal of the situations before total total resumption of activities

While nothing the economic hardship the lockdown might have caused, he said ” no doubt, it has been really though for Nigerians all over, but lives should be above economic consideration and social activity that has being in limbo in the last 40 days

Oba Makama appreciated the federal government for the provision of 1,800 bags of rice to Osun, and all other support that has been provided for the state in the wake of the pandemic so far, urging the PTF to do more in term of financial assistance towards cushioning the effects of pandamic.

He said, “I think the federal government has done so well in curtailing the COVID-19 and we must commend them. He however implore the Federal Government to provide financial assistance to the State Government of Osun, augment its lean financial resources. He advised that the federal government can also grant debt relief or moratorium for Osun state so as to be on sound footing post COVID-19.

The highly-respected Monarch commiserated with President Buhari over the death of his chief of staff, Malam Abba Kyari and other Nigerians who have lost loved ones to the COVID-19.Meanwhile, Olowu, has also announced that the 2nd Edition of Olori Fatima Adeola makama Iyelude alAnnual Empowerment Programme is being flagoff with emphasis on COVID-19 palliatives to support the government as his modest contribution to the well being of Our people during this trying time.

He explained that the vulnerable people such as widows, orphans and less privileged in Owu-Kuta will be given foodstuffs and various sum of cash to augment their feeding.

He said, “This is our little way of giving back to the society as a royal father and to support our governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola who is doing a good job towards improving the wellbeing of our people.” Olowu added.
